Abstract:
This paper presents a detail analysis of the influence of design techniques on the parasitic effects existing in a transformer, to establish some design guidelines for optimization. FEM tools are used in combination with analytic models to estimate the variations produced in the electromagnetic field and undesired energy storage, due to geometric modifications and winding arrangements and connections. The effects are summarized and organized in terms of relative relevance to make simplified predictions of various influences in the transformer’s parasitics.
