Abstract:
With the development of power grid communication infrastructure in Germany in recent years, it has become possible to integrate a wide range of energy applications. Due to the lack of a comprehensive modeling approach, the impact testing and integration into the existing infrastructure is still challenging. The modern Smart Meter Gateway infrastructure holds the potential to optimize and protect the electrical grid from instabilities, through the increase of transparency of the current grid state parameters and realization of Demand-Side-Management programs. This paper considers real-time residential load profile modeling of various German household configurations in accordance with the requirements of Smart Meter Gateway as the central communication device in Smart Grid infrastructure. The proposed residential load model is expected to reflect the properties of the German advanced metering infrastructure with the ability to simulate and utilize the Smart Meter Gateway for future energy applications.
