Abstract:
This paper presents the modelling of a mathematical optimization for determining measures in congestion management by market- and grid-related measures. These methods are used in a time-step overlapping computational approach, which is necessitated by the newly implementation of pumped hydroelectric energy storage. The modeling is done with an AC power flow formulation. Pumped hydro energy storage, phase shifter transformers and high-voltage direct current connections are used as redispatch minimizing degrees of freedom in the optimization. A case study is used to illustrate the effect of different degrees of freedom on the redispatch result. The application example is using a model of the German transmission system minimizing the need for redispatch in a far future scenario.
