Abstract:
With the operation of Matiri-Lahore HVDC Transmission Line, Pakistan power grid has achieved a significant leap from the AC interconnection to AC-DC hybrid interconnection. In this paper, a detailed electromechanical transient simulation model is established including Pakistan's above 500kV voltage system and its main equivalent system above 220kV on BPA platform. The static and dynamic stability characteristics of Pakistan power grid are analyzed by power flow calculation and time-domain simulation. It should be noted that the voltage stability problem is prominent, and there is a serious risk of low frequency oscillation due to the negative damping of inter-area connection. Finally, corresponding suggestions and measures are put forward for the above risks are further studied. The study provides technical reference for the secure and stable operation of Pakistan power grid.
