Abstract:
With the increasing demand of virtue reality and industrial surface quality testing, the optically sensing of 3D topology becomes highly desirable. Among the 3D sensing methods, the Fourier transformation and phase fringe profilometry (PFP) based methods are the most representative measuring means. This paper presents a fast PFP method by implementing a physics-based discontinuity smoothing criterion in the phase unwrapping process to obtain the absolute phase in high accuracy. The three-step phase-shift sinusoidal pattern is used to unwrap the phase information in nine projected images. The calculation process that includes the capturing of the images by camera and unwrapping to reconstruct the smooth absolute phase information is demonstrated. The proposed method is numerical verified and experimental validated by a developed digital fringe projection (DFP) system.
