Abstract:
In the trend of decarbonization worldwide, the two-way communication smart grid is different from the traditional grid which was developed in one-way. The concept of renewable energy generation, intelligent monitoring and analysis feedback are added to make sure the grid system more environmentally friendly, efficient, and controllable. In this article, we will discuss the history and policies of smart grid development in different countries and what will be discussed next are the power generation, transmission, and distribution modes of the smart grid system, and two types of smart grid applications: nano-grid and micro-grid will also be explored. However, what cannot be ensured is how much economical the smart grid can save, and its network security still needs to be improved gradually. This article will provide readers with a deeper understanding of the history and policies of smart grid development, system architecture, and key applications, as well as present the challenges of the existing smart grid. Ultimately, the vigorous development of the smart grid can promote the intelligence of the modern grid, the penetration of clean energy, and have the use of improving the efficiency of electricity consumption significantly.
