Abstract:
Multi-axes drives are increasingly found in automation systems. Instead of controlling all drives by a single industrial PC, the application is preferably divided into submodules with their respective Module Controllers. For controller-to-controller (C2C) networking, the publish-subscribe methods of the Data Distribution Service (DDS) are used. Using IO-Link transceivers in the drives for 24 V IO increases flexibility at lower cost. The concept simplifies commissioning and service, safety certification if necessary, and continuous product improvement. An example system is described with different submodules being synchronized.
