Abstract:
The widespread of electrical drives in transportation and mobility primarily relies on effective integration of components that are procured from original equipment manufacturers. The traditional design considers individual components separately and lacks a comprehensive approach, which could significantly deteriorate the operation performance or even lead to premature failure of the drive. The utilization of fast-switching wide bandgap semiconductors additionally increases the importance of overcoming the limitations of the traditional design. To this end, a unified design approach is recommended. In this work, the effects of voltage overshoots at the machine terminals is qualitatively studied in the context of a unified approach.
