Abstract:
The increasing utilization of Dual-Active Bridge (DAB) converters in dc-dc power conversion applications has resulted in a significant number of novel control approaches advancing the operation of DAB converters. Numerous applications utilize DAB converters including solid-state transformers, dc distribution grids and electrified transportation. In this context, Hardware-In-the-Loop (HIL) testing plays a significant role in the validation of novel control concepts. This paper addresses challenges associated with ensuring a high degree of fidelity in real-time simulation for HIL studies of DAB converters. Simulation fidelity and time-step requirements are analyzed with respect to the converter operation and switching frequency.
