Abstract:
This paper analyses and discusses the boost inverter's performance in reducing switching losses by using the 240deg-clamped space vector pulse width modulation (PWM) called 240CPWM. 240CPWM is a proposed modulation used to boost inverter because it can improve the efficiency of the whole system and reduce the switching losses by clamping a phase to the positive or negative rail for 240deg. Always only one out of the three phases are switched. The theoretical considerations are finally verified on simulation, where the proposed modulation 240CPWM is experimentally compared with the conventional spatial vector PWM (CSVPWM) under different operating conditions. The different operating conditions are used to simulate the different driving cycles of the electric vehicle (EV).
