Abstract:
In order to deal with the environmental pollution rendered by energy production, new energy sources have attracted wide attention. Salinity gradient power (SGP), which locates at the junction of sea water and river water, is a new type of power generation technology with potential for reverse electrodialysis (RED) that uses SGP to generate electricity. Focusing on the factors that affect RED power generation, this article discussed its power generation devices including ion exchange membranes (IEMs), spacers, and electrode systems. Additionally, the combination of RED with several different technologies was introduced. It is expected that this article could certain guidance for the theoretical research and practical application of RED.
