IGBT short circuit and its overvoltage protection circuit

Abstract:
As a key device in the field of power electronics, IGBT plays an important role in the power electronics industry. Therefore, IGBT short circuit and overvoltage protection has also become an important development direction of power electronics technology. In order to protect high-power IGBT from short-circuit and overvoltage, according to the fact that IGBT Driver passively collects IGBT current and voltage change rate, this paper adopts the method of active clamping of transient voltage suppressor and the combination of short-circuit detection and desaturation detection. Through the comparative analysis of simulation test and simulation software LTSpice, it is compared with the traditional short-circuit protection and overvoltage protection circuit, it has a strong inhibitory effect on the short-circuit state of IGBT and the peak voltage at shutdown. Through the research of driving circuit and protection circuit, these two circuits are used to control the dynamic voltage rise. Experiments show that IGBT can be driven stably without damage due to short circuit and overvoltage.
