Abstract:
As wireless communication continues to evolve, spectrum resources are becoming increasingly scarce. Therefore, efficient and fair reuse of the spectrum is essential. In this paper, a planar Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiple Access (OFDMA) network model with arbitrary numbers of cells is created for experiments. Five algorithms called integer frequency reuse (IFR), fractional frequency reuse (FFR), simultaneous water-filling (SWF), Transmit Interference Temperature Limit (tx-ITL) and a forward-looking game (FLG) are introduced in this paper. This paper proposes a new allocation method that uses only IFR for the central areas to simplify the system, while combining FFR with SWF, tx-ITL or FLG in the edge to achieve a balance between individual fairness and total network capacity. By performing extensive simulation experiments in the generalized OFDMA network model and comparing the results. The experiments show that FFR+IFR3+FLG is the best algorithmic combination due to its ability to control the interference and maximize both individual and collective interests. But it requires a more complex system due to the greater amount of calculation. The experiments also confirm that FFR+IFR3+tx-ITL can improve individual competitive fairness without affecting network capacity. The conclusions of this paper are useful for both wireless communication algorithm research and realistic communication technology applications.
