Abstract:
This paper presents the structural weakness of a river-sea-going ship due to the wide and flat design of the ship; we propose the utilize of Optical Frequency Domain Reflectometer (OFDR) for strain field in ship transverse monitoring in hydrostatic loads. The interrogation method is based on high density Fiber Bragg Grating (FBG) array with 5mm grating length and 15mm grating spacing as strain field sensors. This system enable demodulate 0.14mm spatial resolution and 0.01muepsilon maximum strain range. Using OFDR interrogation in different hydrostatic loads in ship in order to reveal the characteristics of ship. Measurement of strain field in ship transverse demonstrate the function of the OFDR based on high density FBG array made potential with this system.
