Abstract:
Security-constrained optimal power flow (SCOPF) aims to minimize the total operation cost subject to several security constraints and is an important tool in power system operation and electricity market clearing. However, the high penetration of renewable energy and the random contingencies hugely increase the computational burden of large-scale SCOPF. Solving a large-scale SCOPF can hardly meet the time requirement of the clearing windows. Therefore, several approaches have been proposed to solve the SCOPF problem efficiently. In this paper, a literature review of different SCOPF calculation methods is presented. The reviewed papers are divided into 2 categories according to whether they use a model-based method or a machine learning method.
