Abstract:
While consuming liquid fossil fuels, traditional oil-powered ships generate and emit a large amount of greenhouse gases (GHG) and pollutants. Supplanting it with LNG-powered ships and consuming low-carbon fuel instead of fossil fuel may effectively reduce emissions of GHG and pollutants from operating ships. Through comparatively studying and analyzing carbon emissions before and after implementation of the LNG-powered ship application project, this paper puts forth a method to calculate GHG emission reduction of the project, providing a basis for quantitative calculation for such projects to participate in trading of voluntary emission reductions.
