Abstract:
Nowadays, considering the limits of photovoltaic power plants, new architectures with an intermediate medium-voltage DC collector are under consideration. Thus, isolated DC/DC converters are key components to accelerate the deployment of these architectures. This paper presents the prototype of a 200-kW two-stage converter based on the cascade association of a Three-Level Boost Chopper and a Solid-State Transformer. To accurately determine the efficiency, each conversion stage is separately characterized with the opposition method. The experimental results show that the two elementary converters offer high efficiency, greater than 99% over 60% of the operating range.
