SiC-IPM for Compact and Energy Efficient Low-Power Motor Drives

Abstract:
The demand on higher energy efficiency is on the rise even in low-power motor drive applications and it is expected that SiC will play an important role in saving the energy as well as reducing the inverter board size. This paper presents a new SiC-FET IPM (intelligent power module) which enables higher efficient and more compact inverter. All the performance including EMI and noise that designers must face will be directly compared to RC-IGBT IPM inverter which has been generally and wisely used.
