Abstract:
Infineon has been developing IGBT chips and modules with 6.5kV blocking voltage since 1999 [1]. After the 6.5kV IGBT3 modules of the last generation, which have been successfully produced and used since 2010, Infineon has now developed a new IGBT technology in the IHV-A package. The Infineon IHV-A 6.5kV IGBT4 FZ1000R65KE4 [2] module has been developed among others for high-voltage direct current (HVDC) inverter applications, offering significant advantages over 4.5kV IGBT solutions. Its higher blocking voltage reduces the number of sub-modules required in HVDC systems, making it an optimal choice for demanding applications.
