Abstract:
Current developments in semiconductor technology of SiC and GaN materials allow new applications of converter topologies in the field of aviation to achieve higher efficiency and reliability. The use of new circuit concepts integrating semiconductor components based on SiC and GaN then allows for a higher level of system integration on board aircraft with the possibility of improving some designs, for example in the area of EMC with regard to RTCA/DO-160 standards. This article is devoted to a detailed analysis of the impact of using SiC Schottky Barrier Diodes (SiC SBD) in Aircraft Electrical Systems circuits and highlights their advantages compared to existing technologies used in aviation systems. This article presents in detail a simulation model of the TRU unit, which uses SPICE diode models to simulate their performance, to analyze the impact of SiC diodes.
