Abstract:
This paper extends the Partial Element Equivalent Circuit (PEEC)-based thermal model for inductors and transformers by incorporating integrated cooling channels. The modular approach allows for flexible modeling of different core types using rectangular and cylindrical meshing. The model accounts for conduction, radiation, and both free and forced convection. The enhanced model also supports fixed temperature conditions, such as water cooling within the channels. The model is validated through measurements, including setups with cooling channels and integrated water-cooling systems.
