Abstract:
The transition to electric vehicles (EVs) in the automotive industry requires effective fault management for Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motors (PMSMs). This paper introduces an innovative Active Short Circuit (ASC) technique to enhance the performance of EV traction inverters. By dynamically regulating phase currents and stabilizing the DC-link voltage, the proposed ASC method significantly reduces transient currents. This approach effectively lowers thermal stress on power semiconductor switches and mitigates the risk of demagnetization during severe ASC events. Simulation results validate the potential of the ASC technique in improving the safety and reliability of EV powertrains.
