Abstract:
The Equivalent Series Inductance (ESL) in capacitor banks significantly influences power quality, resonance behavior, and overall system reliability, particularly in high-frequency applications. ESL impacts performance by affecting efficiency, stability, and discharge characteristics of capacitors. Lower inductance results in reduced impedance and faster discharge times, thereby enhancing system efficiency and extending charge-discharge cycles. This paper presents an in-depth analysis of the design and development of high-energy storage capacitors, focusing on techniques to minimize inductance in metal-case capacitors. A comparative study of various capacitor types is also included to highlight their respective performance characteristics. By exploring the critical parameters associated with ESL, this work aims to optimize capacitor performance of the system.
