Abstract:
This work presents a power management IC (PMIC) for GaN-based photovoltaic inverters. The ICs’ 350 V capability enables on-chip local sensing of the high-side (HS) and low-side (LS) GaN power switches. This enables very short control loops and eliminates the need for external sensors and fast transmission of control signals. Operation in boundary current mode (BCM) enables zero-voltage switching on all switches. The high level of integration enables a reduction in component count, leading to volume and cost savings.
