Abstract:
This paper investigates the impact of gate driving strategies on traction inverter efficiency, a critical factor in vehicle fuel economy. An experimental system evaluates the switching performance of a 300 A/1200 V SiC power MOSFET using a double pulse structure to emulate realistic traction applications. Tests with varying gate resistance values assess switching performance and DC bus transients. The study emphasizes the importance of considering device di/dt, DC bus transients, and switching speed in selecting optimal gate driving strategies [1]. Insights from the experimental setup and results contribute to enhancing traction inverter efficiency for more energy-efficient electric vehicles.
