Abstract:
DC-DC converter applications in the automotive field are nowadays widespread requiring high accuracy and transient response as well as an expansion towards high voltage field. V2 Constant On-Time control loop perfectly fits these requirements. A new loop analysis methodology is proposed, providing simple design guidelines in case of internal ramp compensation even when the switching frequency and output voltage are unknown. The methodology has been validated on a real test case of a wide input-output range (typical 48V to 12V conversion) buck converter for automotive applications, 1A maximum current with target switching frequency between 100kHz and 1MHz showing very good fitting.
