Abstract:
In this paper, a novel control strategy for bidirectional dual-active series-resonant converters is introduced, using highly dynamic pulse-skipping based on the resonant current’s amplitude. This not only provides the possibility for controlling input/output values but also short circuit capability while still switching at resonant frequency near zero current. Challenges such as transformer saturation and design of an ultra-fast current level detection are covered. The control strategy is demonstrated in a conventional dc-dc application featuring output voltage control.
