Abstract:
This paper presents the improvement of power quality issues in a dairy plant using a Static Synchronous Compensator (STATCOM), that can be remotely controlled and monitored. The power quality (PQ) issues in the dairy plant are detailed using the power quality analysis conducted during the process operations using a power quality analyzer. The compensation capability of STATCOM for the mitigation of power quality issues such as reactive power, imbalance, neutral current, and harmonics are demonstrated. The remote control and monitoring functions of the STATCOM is also depicted.
