Abstract:
The design and modeling of a curved shape photonic crystal taper consisting of a hybrid surface plasmon polariton (SPP) photonic crystal (PhC) is presented. The photonic crystal is based on a hexagonal lattice of silicon rods standing on a low-index layer of SiO2 with a thin layer of metal as a plasmonic layer. Different shapes for the curvature of the taper with a different configuration of layer stack for the top and embedded metal layer were investigated. The finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) technique was used to study the transmission spectrum.
