Abstract:
In this work, we assess the possibility for utilization of line-of-sight (LOS) multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) for further capacity improvement of sub-terahertz (Sub-THz) links. The LOS MIMO concept is revisited and a system analysis for 3x3 and 4x4 MIMO configurations targeting operation in the J-band (240 GHz) is conducted. We examine the effects of optimum antenna separation and communication distance on channel eigenvalues, thereby gaining some insights into system performance, particularly the capacity of both Gaussian and practical signaling.
