              Abstract:
              This paper presents a solution, where 802.11a compliant WLAN nodes may measure the distance between each other. We report on the measurement principle, implementation details, and field trial results. One measurement requires around a millisecond, the accuracy of one distance measurement in the 5 GHz WiFi band is typically ca. 7.5 m.
