Abstract:
The actuation of a dielectric droplet by electrical fields on a non-wetting surface is well-known in digital microfluidics. Here, we use reshaping of droplets by electrostatic forces for innovative optical lenses and lens systems. The deformation of an intrinsically spherical droplet into a cylindrical liquid lens is achieved by the influence of electrostatic force following EWOD (electrowetting on dielectrics) principle.
