Abstract:
This paper presents the concept of an infrastructure for a contactless monitoring system of incontinence material for patients suffering from dementia in healthcare homes, where a major challenge in everyday life includes incontinence management. This poses hygiene risks for skin related complications which could increase if not handled properly. The infrastructure concept integrates all the components of the system including the sensors, data conversion, communication units and an end-user devices for monitoring the incontinence status of the patient.
