This prestandard applies to switching sticks to work on live parts with nominal voltages of 1 kV to 420 kV. It is applicable only in conjunction with DIN V VDE 0681-1 (VDE V 0681-1).
The devices can be used indoor and outdoor. If they are designed for this purpose they also may be used for a short time in wet weather conditions, which are moistening the insulating stick.
Some restrictions on their use are applicable in the case of factory-assembled switchgear, eg according to DIN EN 62271-200 (VDE 0671-200) and EN 62271-201 (VDE 0671-201).
