This standard is applicable for single unit outdoor post insulators made of porcelain material and assembled with metal end fittings. Post insulators according to this standard are electrically rated for a AC withstand voltage of 230 kV and a lightning impulse withstand voltage (BIL) of 550 kV similar to DIN IEC 60273 (VDE 0674-4). The insulating body consists of a solid core porcelain.
