This document applies to power frequency overvoltage protection (POP) devices for household and similar applications with a rated frequency of 50 Hz, 60 Hz or 50/60 Hz, a rated alternating voltage not exceeding 230 V (between phase and neutral) and a rated current not exceeding 63 A, consisting either of a functional unit in combination with a main protective device (POP) or of a main protective device (POP): main protective device (MPD) or a single device having opening devices capable of opening the protected circuit under certain conditions.
