This part of IEC 60794 is a family specification covering optical fibre indoor cables which are UV resistant and resistant against humidity and thus applicable to outdoor environments. These cables generally possess the characteristics associated with indoor cable designs having the appropriate flame retardance and flexibility that makes them suitable for use in premises, while simultaneously exhibiting the UV resistance and resistance against humidity required for outdoor installations. Typical application spaces include the extension of a short length (e.g. less than 10m) of indoor cable outside the building such as to a NAP mounted outside the building at the house wall.
