This VDE-Guideline is part of a series of VDE guidelines for the further education and training of personnel in broadband expansion. It describes the basic knowledge to be imparted in the specialisation module for the operation and maintenance of fibre optic networks. The learning objectives imparted form a good basis for working in this field. In the course of their work following their qualification, participants can only be further qualified for their work in this area through in-depth experience.
This VDE-Guideline specifies the procedure for the further training of employees who work in the operation and maintenance of fibre optic infrastructures at network levels 3 (Central Office/Point of Presence (POP)) to the incoming side of the house transfer point (Gf-AP) with the network elements and structures (joints, above-ground and underground distribution and connection elements) and the associated LWL trades. The skills taught should also enable the testing of network level 4 connected to the HüP. Requirements for working on and in network level 4 are contained in VDE 0800-208.
