This VDE-Guideline forms the basis for the training and further education of personnel involved in fiber optic expansion. Other VDE guidelines describe further training in areas such as planning, cable construction, expansion of network levels 3 and 4, operation and maintenance, as well as construction project management and supervision. It teaches the basics of the technical requirements for people working in this area of fiber optic technology who perform tasks as part of their duties. The learning content is based on the value chain, which is important in the planning, construction, and operation of fiber optic communication cable networks. This guideline is not intended to describe the content of the employer's risk assessment or occupational safety training. The necessary occupational safety measures are not included in this guideline.
