This VDE application guide describes the technical minimum requirements for meter panels in electrical systems including generation plants connected to the low-voltage network of the public supply as well as their environmental conditions. This includes the requirements for measuring tasks and the necessary communication systems in accordance with § 21b and § 40 of the German Energy Industry Act (Energiewirtschaftsgesetz). This application guide also helps to prepare the meter panels for future applications such as smart metering and smart grid. Present developments for the use of EDL21 counters and EDL40 measuring systems can be put into practice with this VDE application guide.
