RFID - Logistics and Supply Chain Management

The increasing cross-linking within the supply chain - permitted only by the development of complex IT systems – puts new requirements on logistic systems. Modern material flow and information technologies have to ensure the continuous real-time supervision and control of the material flow. Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) is an ideal tool to link the material flow with the information flow at a relatively early stage. The article gives an short overview in how far the Fraunhofer-Institute for material flow and logistics deals with the topic of RFID.
