Inhalt:
In this paper, a novel system concept for Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) is introduced. Using the fact that a multiple apertures system provides a diversity gain or array gain depending on the constellation, a multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) concept is applied to SAR. In this paper, with a simple transmit diversity technique; well known as Alamouti scheme, the performance is investigated from a system point of view. In addition the complete processing combined with digital beamforming (DBF) compensates the restricted observation swath due to multiple code transmission and enhances the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR). As a consequence, use of spacetime code (STC) scheme with a MIMO constellation shows high potential to realize a multipurpose SAR.
