Stepped-chirp is one of usually used signals for obtaining large bandwidth while reducing the requirement of signal bandwidth for a single chirp. A simple imaging algorithm was proposed for stepped-chirp SAR based on coherent combination of the observed spatial spectrums of each subchirp signal. Two approaches of spectrum combination were proposed, i.e. one is to conduct for each burst before azimuthal processing, and the other one is to conduct after imaging processing for each subchirp. Detailed derivation was given as well as simulation was presented to show the effect of the algorithm.
