This paper investigates both the statistical modeling aspects from an extensive indoor UWB measurement campaign including Line Of Sight and Non Line of Sight configurations and a calibration method for an UWB deterministic channel model. This method optimizes the channel parameters at subbands by means of a subset of few measurements. The calibration has been performed on power delay profiles by simulated annealing, whereby the cost function is the root mean square error between the measured and predicted power of multipath components (MPCs). Besides providing better accuracy than the standard model (prior to calibration), the calibrated model has the advantage of outperforming the statistical model for few number of measurements used for the calibration. It provides a good accuracy in terms of channel characteristics (path loss L [dB], delay spread sigmatau and maximum excess delay taumax), while saving the time and costs of long measurement campaigns.
