Inhalt:
The subject of the present paper is a novel analytical physical propagation model for the evaluation of the connectivity of multi-hop transmission in wireless mesh networks operating above 10GHz. Physical phenomena related to propagation of millimeter radio waves through the atmosphere cause signal impairments and strongly affect the topology and the connectivity of a wireless multi-hop network. Assuming line of sight (LOS) connections among the nodes, equal transmission capabilities and a random spatial node distribution following a homogeneous Poisson process, we calculate the node isolation probability, taking into account the dominant propagation conditions at these frequencies. The sensitivity of isolation probability on frequency of operation, radius coverage and climatic conditions is finally investigated. Useful conclusions are finally drawn.
