Inhalt:
The fractal technique is introduced as an efficient method for the design of a Direct Radiating Array(DRA) which produces nineteen pencil beams for satellite communications systems. By exploiting the nature of the fractal algorithm for the development of an antenna array, a DRA with high gain and low sidelobe level was designed. Further reduce of the SLL was obtained by proper perturbation of the positions of the elements of the array and the application of one step of quantization at the feeding. The grouping of the elements in blocks of uniformly illuminated elements led, to a number of control points sixteen times smaller than the number of the DRA’s elements.
