Inhalt:
This work presents the application of three different bio-inspired algorithms (Genetic Algorithm, Evolution Strategies and Artificial Immune Systems) to design a filter and an Air-Waveguide coupling based on Electromagnetic Band Gap (EBG) structures. The EBG modeling is accomplished by using a 2D numerical algorithm based on the Finite Element Method (FEM). Another contribution of this work is a benchmark of these bio-inspired algorithms applied to the optimization of some electromagnetic devices, considering convergence efficiency and computational requirements.
