ALSTOM Transport is implementing since several years on board energy storage system in LRV. The market of LRV is asking more and more for minimising visual impact in the cities centers and for optimising the energy consumption. 2 different applications are described in this article dealing with two different motivations: Nice Tramway designed with a battery to cross two squares without catenary and Paris tramway designed with supercapacitors to enhance the global energy efficiency and to run one interstation without catenary.
