Rapidly growing amounts of data and the expectation of instant access in businesses as well as private use are driving provisioning with increasing speed. Companies see the increase in business critical data as one of their major challenges. As a result more memory space and computing power is installed continuously, causing more connectivity and requiring higher bandwidth in the limited and costly, controlled data centres spaces. While transmission technologies and protocols are advancing to ever faster data transport and smaller footprints for electronics and interfaces, data centre designers must anticipate emerging technologies and make sure the cabling infrastructures can accommodate these without disrupting current operation. This document describes how bend-insensitive fibre and high-density connectivity solutions can help optimize data centre infrastructure growth and increase network reliability.
