Inhalt:
Recent developments in technology produce solutions for alleviating the probability of high risk categorization as people are aging. These solutions currently mostly address the disease management of elderly people who are on rehabilitation or in a treatment phase. Improvements in ubiquitous computing, persuasive and sensor technologies push forward the culture of prevention for healthy aging in order to reduce seniors' dependency, to increase their quality of life and longevity. Many novel, long-term monitoring applications aim to support elderly people especially in physical activity and nutrition management. In this paper, we thereby propose an approach that benefits from easy-to-use and inexpensive consumer devices to obtain health related data from seniors in their daily environment unobtrusively. The approach is deployed in two scenarios: a daily activity and nutrition assistant, and a hiking guide for tertiary prevention. By giving feedback about their behaviour, the system helps the elderly to learn about themselves, and thus supports for pursuing a healthier lifestyle.
